Big Jim Allen, a Chicago native now living in the Tampa Bay area since 2005, grew up playing acoustic folk rock, jazz and classic rock music…from the British Invasion and “hippie rock” to the California singer/songwriter music. With reviews that refer to him as an “all-around entertainer and personality”, Big Jim is best known as a fingerstyle guitarist, versatile ukulele & cornet/flugelhorn player, and a singer/songwriter.

In 2013, Big Jim stepped away from bar entertainment, and is now primarily an event entertainer placing him in front of audiences at folk & ukulele festivals, public & civic events, street fairs & markets, and private corporate functions.  In November, 2013, Big Jim Allen was approved to be a part of the government’s “People to People” cultural exchange program, and took part in a week-long cultural exchange in Cuba.

Big Jim was named “2017 Musician of Note” by the Tampa Bay Musicians Co-Op. His current projects includes solo performances, duo appearances with “Big Jim and Kenny” and “Tip Jar Junkies”, and performing at beach wedding ceremonies on guitar or ukulele through his unique “”
